Go to top of the page Q:  How do I defragment Windows 95/98?

A:  It is very important to defragment a Windows 95/98 computer on at least a monthly basis, if not weekly, depending on your system usage.  In our experience we've found that by defragmenting a Windows computer the majority of minor software problems can be fixed and or avoided.

In order to defragment a Windows 95/98 computer follow these simple steps:

  1. Click, Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Scandisk
  2. Click, Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Defragmenter

The computer may tell you that defragging is not necessary, but you should regardless of what the computer says.

Go to top of the page Q:  What does "connection cannot be made with the server" mean.  The error was returned in my browser while trying to access a site I've been to before.

A:  This error is typically returned by a browser when the web site you are trying to contact is either down, overloaded or has moved.  An immediate resolution to this error is out of your control and your best solution is to wait and try back later.

Go to top of the page Q:  What does "The server returned extended information" mean. Occurred when I was trying to download from a site?

A:  This error typically occurs when you click on a hyperlink in a web page, which is in fact pointing to a file located at an FTP site.  The error may mean that the file is password protected, unavailable or that the site is to busy to accept your connection.  You will have a much better chance of obtaining the file by using an FTP program.

Go to top of the page Q:  Why do I have to fill out the Microsoft Registration form before being able to view their support site?

A:  Microsoft requires that every visitor to their support site fill out a Registration form.  This form is used to identify your profile and provide you with your customized view on subsequent visits.  You are only required to fill out the Reigstration form once for all Microsoft related sites, and you might as well get it over with now.
